Summer assignment: Part 1.

For the first part of this assignment, I researched potential areas of employment, to prepare myself for entering the world of work one day. I also researched different types of photographers and what they may be hired for, in order to help me decide what job I would like to do following the completion of my education, whether that be after college or university.

Families may want a photographer for family portraits, pictures of their children, or an event the family might be part of.	Microsoft use photographers for adverts and promotions.	Schools use photographers to take school pictures and prom pictures.
Couples may want a photographer to document their wedding/reception.	Magazines use photographers for adverts and for images to accompany articles.	Charities use photographers for charity campaigns and adverts.
College students sometimes need photographers to document their work for portfolios.	Television uses photographers for promotional images for their shows.	Libraries use photographers for leaflets and posters.
Actors may hire a photographer to take promotional images of them to add to their CV.	Apple use photographers for adverts and for packaging.	The Military use photographers for recruitment and adverts.
Some people hire private investigators to discover information, and these private investigators may take photographs to prove their findings.	Record labels use photographers for CD covers and adverts..	Universities and colleges use photographers for promotions, prospectuses and leaflets.
People may want to hire a photographer to photograph them before their prom night.	Hairdressers use photographers for brochures and adverts.	Hospitals and Doctor’s surgeries use photographers for posters and information leaflets.
People making injury claims may ask a photographer to document their injuries for court.	Food manufacturers use photographers for adverts and packaging.	Politicians use photographers for campaign images, leaflets and manifestoes.
Parents may hire a photographer to photograph their babies.	Fast food companies use photographers for adverts and packaging.	The Council use photographers for leaflets and promotions.

Wildlife photographers	A zoo, nature magazines, documentaries and television may hire wildlife photographers.
Fashion photographers	Designers, stores, magazines and students may hire portrait photographers.
Photojournalists	Newspapers, books, magazines and television companies may hire photojournalists.
Band photographers	Band photographers cover live gigs, shoot promotional images, magazine images and album covers.
Still-life photographers	Still-life photographers shoot images for books, adverts, magazines and catalogues.
Police photographers	Police photographers photograph crime scenes, postmortem shots, accident victims and evidence.
